Hiring a moving company may be the best option, but even the most professional and reputable company can be a horrible experience if you go in not knowing all the facts. Before hiring a mover, some questions to ask are:
- Is the quote price an estimate of a “not-to-exceed” ceiling?
- How long have they been in business?
- Information about the moving crew’s status with the company. Are they employed by the company, temporary hires or casual laborers? Do they perform back ground checks?
- Do they offer storage?
Don’t forget to ask for a copy of the mover’s bill of lading, liability insurance and valuation coverage policy along with a timetable for performing the move and when to expect delivery.
Is there a question you would add to the list?
